Alliance Defending Freedom is a nonprofit law firm that defends religious freedom and the free speech of people of faith. The ADF has led defence efforts to protect the right of individuals and organizations to speak freely, live out their faith, or participate in the public square without fear of government punishment.

In October 2016, ADF received the Human Rights Campaign Foundation Award of Merit. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation gives the award annually to an organization “that has made a lasting difference in advancing LGBT equality.” They also received Young Lawyers Division’s 2016 Family Law Litigation Award.
Christian leaders founded ADF to defend religious freedom for all Americans. ADF is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the civil liberties of everyone—including religious believers—through litigation, education, and public policy efforts at the state and federal levels. ADF also provides free legal resources and representation for local churches across America on issues vital to their organizations and ministries.
ADF has experienced rapid growth since its founding in 1994. ADF now has more than 2,600 employees and offers legal assistance to religious nonprofits and people of faith across America at no charge.
