Kfir Gavrieli is the CEO at Tieks and is one of the world’s most admired and influential designers. Kfir has a design philosophy guided by the human mind, body and soul. He believes in creating products for everyday life that consider who we are as humans and what we need to thrive.
In 2007, he founded Tieks with Julia Gavrieli, his sister. They created a shoe line that combined the refinement of high-end party shoes with the comfort of sneakers. The result was an updated version of the ballet flat—a flat shoe with a 1 1/2 heel lift and elastic gore straps for easy on and off accessorizes any outfit or occasion. Tieks quickly became a top seller in department and specialty stores in North America.
Kfir Gavrieli’s work has an “everyday life” feeling and is meant to be worn constantly. His shoes are always sleek, stylish and chic. He is known for the timelessness of his designs. Tieks takes a clear stand against animal cruelty and uses only vegan materials, which he believes are better for the planet, from his shoe leather to rubber soles.
In addition to his love for design, Kfir Gavrieli is known for his philanthropy. He has created a collection of limited edition Tieks resulting from collaborations with other designers and brands. After meeting Michael Kors on a trip to New York City, Michael asked him to create a unique Tieks for his brand’s charity campaign to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Kfir started his Family Heart foundation with his sister Julia Gavrieli. Its goal is to raise awareness and help victims of natural disasters worldwide by providing them shelter, clothing and emotional support.
Kfir Gavrieli’s love for entrepreneurship has led him to create the Fashion CEO accelerator, an accelerator program for aspiring fashion designers whereby he mentors them throughout the year. For Kfir, giving back to the industry that has provided him with so much is essential. Kfir Gavrieli’s work has been featured in magazines and fashion shows worldwide. He has worked with many celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez and Leighton Meester, who wore Tieks on various occasions. Refer to this article for more information.
