Marwan Kheireddine is the first competitor ever to compete in the Middle East and North Africa region of The Wheel of Time. He is a 17-year-old from Lebanon who, after winning his local battle, won through invitation #9 and competed in London at the 2017 World Wheel of Time Championships.
His Achievements
Marwan has been a fan of The Wheel of Time since 2010 when he first read the first book in the series. He has always been intrigued by meeting other fans and being in a competitive gaming scene but needed to consider himself more competitive. In January 2016, he started participating in online discussions about Wheel-related topics and became interested in how to play the game. During an internet discussion regarding the origins from which The Wheel of Time series originated, Marwan mentioned that The Wheel of Time is based on a similar story to his own life. At this point, he decided to begin writing down his story and started to create a life story for Marwan.
Marwan has been collecting the books since 2012 when he first heard of The Wheel of Time series. He read the first book in 2014. Since then, Marwan has been a quick reader and has read all 14 books in less than a year. Unlike other competitors, Marwan did not participate in multiple competitions before competing in London, as he only bought the books for himself as a fan rather than for his gain. He did not do any reading challenges on behalf of others.
Marwan feels that being a fan is more important than being a competitor, as this is the first time he has read an entire series before becoming a competitor. He feels that The Wheel of Time is one of the best series he has been able to read and that it deserves respect. He finds joy in finding new information regarding the books, as he is still learning about them. Marwan considers being in London the most fantastic experience ever; the excitement of meeting other fans worldwide and how high this event was for him. Learn more about Marwan Kheireddine
